Granny Ann's Cake Section
        
Peachy Upside Down Cake

4 Tablespoons butter
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 cups (29oz. can) peach halves, drained
4 maraschino cherries, halved
2/3 cup butter
1 1/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 eggs
1 1/2 cup all-purpose flour, unsifted
1/3 cup cocoa
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup buttermilk

Melt 4 tablespoons butter in 9"inch square pan. Sprinkle brown sugar over butter. Place rows of peaches next and add cherries randomly with cut side up.
Cream 2/3 cup butter, sugar and vanilla in a large mixing bowl. ADD eggs, beat well. Combine next 4 ingredients together and add alternately with buttermilk to creamed mixture and mix well. Pour into pan.
Bake 350F degrees for 60-65 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.  Invert onto serving plate immediately.   Serve warm.  Very good!!
