Chocolate Pecan Chip Cookies

1 cup butter, softened
3/4 cup white sugar
3/4 cup lite brown sugar, packed
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 eggs
2 1/4 cups unsifted all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 12oz.  pkg semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup chopped pecans, optional

Cream butter, sugars and vanilla until light and fluffy in a large mixing bowl. ADD eggs; beat well. Combine flour, baking soda and salt; gradually ADD to creamed mixture. Beat well. Stir in semi-sweet chocolate chips and pecans. Drop by rounded teaspoon onto ungreased cookie sheet.

Bake at 375F degrees for 8 - 10 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool slightly before removing for cookie sheet.

Makes about 6 dozen cookies. You can also make this recipe as a bar cookie by spreading onto a cookie sheet and cut into squares after it has cooled. Bake at 375F degrees for 20 minutes.
