Granny Ann's Pie Section
Chocolate Pie

1 pie crust, baked and cooled completely
1 cup sugar
4 Tablespoon flour, heaping
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 cups milk
3 egg yolks, beaten  (save egg whites for topping)
1/2 cup cocoa
1 Tablespoon butter
1 teaspoon vanilla

Mix dry ingredients, ADD milk and cook slowly on medium heat; ADD beaten egg yolks and stir to blend; then ADD butter and vanilla and cook until mixture becomes thick. Remove from heat and let cool. Pour into the cooled pie crust. Top with meringue, sealing sides to crust.
Bake at 375 degrees about 10-12 minutes or until peaks are golden brown.

Meringue Topping

Beat egg whites with 1/2 teaspoon vanilla and 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar until soft peaks form. Gradually add 6 Tablespoons of sugar beating until stiff and glossy peaks form and all of sugar is dissolved. Spread over pie filling and sealing meringue to sides of crust. Bake 375 about 10-12 minutes or until peaks are golden brown. Remove from oven and let pie cool completely before slicing. Refrigerate any left over pie.
